The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Claims Court ruled that a man must repay AED 8,500 to another man, which he had received in exchange for arranging a visit visa and a work visa for the latter’s son, without fulfilling the agreement or returning the money.
In detail, a man filed a lawsuit against another, requesting that he be ordered to pay AED 8,500, along with legal interest at a rate of 12% from the date of filing the case until full payment, in addition to court fees, expenses, and attorney’s fees. He stated that he had transferred the claimed amount to the defendant to arrange a visit visa and work permit for his son, but the defendant failed to obtain the visit visa or complete the residency procedures despite receiving the money. When asked to return the amount, he delayed and evaded repayment.
The plaintiff attached supporting documents to the case file, including a copy of the transfer receipt for the claimed amount.
For its part, the court explained in its reasoning that, according to the session records, the defendant attended and requested time to review and respond, but later failed to appear and did not submit any defense. He also raised no objection, which is considered an implicit acknowledgment of the claimed amount.
The court ruled that the defendant must pay the plaintiff AED 8,500 and bear the court fees and expenses.
