Dubai Police managed to apprehend a driver who deliberately removed his vehicle’s front license plate to evade fines, driving recklessly and committing serious violations, most notably running a red light.
Dubai Police confirmed that smart systems detected the vehicle at multiple locations, leading to the identification of the driver and his apprehension in the field. The vehicle was impounded, and Decree No. (30) of 2023 was applied, which imposes a fine of up to AED 50,000 for release of the impoundment, in addition to referring the driver to the competent authorities.
The police stressed that tampering with vehicle license plates and running red lights are among the most serious violations, as they pose a direct threat to the lives of road users, affirming that there will be zero tolerance for such behavior.
