The Court of First Instance (Civil) ruled to rescind the sale contract of a luxury Porsche Panamera and ordered the seller to refund the purchase price of AED 285,000, with legal interest at a rate of 5% per annum from the date the lawsuit was filed until full payment. The court also awarded the buyer AED 40,000 in compensation for material and moral damages, and ordered the seller to bear the fees, expenses, and legal costs.
The case dates back to when the buyer purchased the car through an online advertisement and negotiated with the seller via the WhatsApp application. He paid the full amount in cash and officially completed the ownership transfer in preparation for re-export. However, he was surprised during the export procedures when the vehicle was detained at the airport after it was discovered to be “wanted” by the competent authorities, and it was later transferred to police impoundment.
