The UAE National Anti-Narcotics Agency, in cooperation with Dubai Police, Sharjah Police, and the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the success of a month-long security operation that resulted in dismantling a criminal gang consisting of 13 suspects of Asian and African nationalities. The gang was led by a drug trafficker operating from outside the country, who was arrested and brought to the UAE.
The operation came after thorough investigations and close surveillance revealed that the gang members had been receiving instructions from abroad to distribute drugs the country. It resulted in the seizure of approximately 56.6 thousand kilograms of narcotic substances, 8,159 psychotropic pills, in addition to electronic cigarettes containing cannabis oil, with a total estimated value of around AED 3.3 million.
The agency affirmed that it will continue its efforts, in cooperation at both regional and international levels, to combat such crimes and track criminal networks inside and outside the country, in a way that enhances community security and protects it from the scourge of drugs.
